Ages 0-5
Mini Movers*: A weekly program designed to promote social inclusion, Mini Movers combines art, dance, and creative movement with story time. This program offers a fun, engaging environment for little ones to explore their creativity and build motor skills. Mini Movers is held every Tuesday at 10 AM. This program is full for 2026. Sign-ups will reopen on December 1st for 2027.
Itsy Bitsy Artist is now held at The Arc! This workshop invites parents to bring their children ages 0-4 to enjoy creating art together. The Itsy Bitsy Artist Playgroup offers a fun, engaging opportunity for young children and their caregivers to explore their creativity through a variety of art activities. Participants can look forward to a nurturing environment that encourages self-expression and develops fine motor skills. Itsy Bitsy Artists meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 AM.
Kaleidoscope Kids*: A weekly program that promotes creativity and imagination through free play! This program provides a fun, engaging environment where little ones can explore their creativity, develop motor skills, and learn socialization in an inclusive setting. Kaleidoscope Kids is held every Thursday at 10 AM. This program is full for 2026. Sign-ups will reopen on December 1st for 2027.
Pre-K to High School
Dream Builders*: Dream Builders is a weekly program that promotes socialization and skill development for Pre-K and elementary students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Each session explores age-appropriate topics in a fun, supportive environment, covering a range of subjects, from life skills and creativity to educational immersion. Dream Builders meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 PM. This program is full for 2026. Sign-ups will reopen on December 1st for 2027.
Bridges to Learning*: Bridges to Learning is a weekly program for middle and high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This program promotes socialization and skill development, focusing on successful transitions from middle school to high school and from high school to adulthood. In a fun, supportive environment, participants explore age-appropriate topics, including life skills, creative expression, and educational immersion. Bridges to Learning meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 PM. This program is full for 2026. Sign-ups will reopen on December 1st for 2027.
Parents:
Parents of children in our 0-5 and Dreamer Builders programs must stay on-site for the duration of class. During this time, we invite you to our parent lounge for Coffee and Conversation*.
Coffee & Conversation: This is a dedicated time and space to connect with other parents who understand your journey. Whether you want to share frustrations, celebrate milestones, or simply find support, this is a place to build your "village" with others navigating similar experiences. Coffee and Conversation meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. These sessions focus on specific topics and provide valuable resources to help you better support your child's unique needs. To attend any session, please complete the sign-up.
Hope Singers: Hope Singers will return in 2026. This year, we will carol at some of our local nursing homes to spread holiday cheer. This group is open to any participant who wants to join us! More information is coming soon!
Adults:
Skills for Life*: This weekly program boosts confidence and independence by teaching essential life skills and social practices in a fun, interactive environment. Starting November 3rd, due to high demand, we will open a second session. This open group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. Families can sign up for either time; both sessions offer the same activities. The 1 p.m. session is full for 2026. Sign-ups will reopen on December 1st for 2027.
Seasonal Dances 2026
Seasonal dances are held on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm at Moose Lodge, 2705 Forest Hills Rd, Wilson, NC 27893. Dances are free and open to anyone in/around Wilson County with I/DD. Dancers should not arrive before 7:00 pm and should be picked up by 8:30 pm.
Halloween Dance: October 15th, 7 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. (Moose Lodge). This dance is open to all participants.
These programs are held at The Arc of Wilson County, 421 Nash W, Wilson (located in the Walston Center, next to Vendor Junction), unless otherwise noted.
*These programs are held at no charge to our participants or their families.
In the event of inclement weather, we will follow the guidance of Wilson Emergency Management and Wilson County Schools. If Wilson County Schools are closed, we will be closed as well. This is for the safety of our staff, our participants, and their families.
Camp Sunshine 2027
Applications for Camp Bright Sunshine, Camp Sunshine, and Camp Little Sunshine will open on January 18, 2027! Mark your calendars, spots are limited.
Our Community Programs & Partners:
Diversified Opportunities (DOI) is a nonprofit organization located in Wilson that provides vocational training, job placement, and support to individuals aged 16 and older with disabilities or other disadvantages. The organization aims to help these individuals gain employment and achieve greater independence in the community. Twice a month, The Arc of Wilson County provides educational opportunities and exclusive program opportunities to Diversified participants of various skill levels in a closed-group setting.
Tri-County Industries (TCI), a nonprofit organization located in Rocky Mount, is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and disadvantages. By offering vocational training, work readiness programs, and job placement services, TCI helps participants build independence and career skills. Twice a month, The Arc of Wilson County provides educational opportunities and exclusive program opportunities to TCI’s participants of various skill levels in a closed-group setting.
Braswell Memorial Library in Rocky Mount hosts our sensory storytime group for children of all ages. Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of each month for storytime fun.
